Common questions
How do I show the Pre-order button?
In the app, open Home and click “Open theme editor”, then switch on “Pre-order button” under App embeds and save. It uses your theme’s own Add to cart button and changes its label when a product takes pre-orders. To place the ship date message somewhere else, add the “Pre-order” block to your product template.
Does it work with Shop Pay?
Yes. The product form sends Shopify’s own pre-order purchase option, so Shop Pay, the dynamic checkout buttons and the normal checkout all show the terms, and the order keeps them.
When does a product become a pre-order?
“When out of stock”: it sells normally while it has stock and switches to pre-order at 0. The app turns on “Continue selling when out of stock” for the campaign’s variants so they can still be bought. “Always”: every sale is a pre-order, for launches.
How do deposits work?
With a deposit (Pro), the shopper pays part at checkout and Shopify saves their card. The order shows “Payment due”. The app charges the rest on the due date if “Charge balances automatically” is on in Settings; otherwise click Collect payment on the order. Deposits need Shopify Payments.
Is there an order limit?
No, on any plan. Free takes unlimited pre-orders with one running campaign. Pro is one flat price with no per-order fees.
Can I set up a large catalog?
Choose collections, or import a CSV of SKUs or handles in the campaign (Shopify’s product export works as is). Large catalogs are set up in the background in a few minutes.
Quick “Add to cart” on collection pages
Some themes have a quick add button on collection pages. It adds the item without the pre-order terms. Turn quick add off for pre-order products, or send shoppers to the product page.
Does it work with Nordica Sold-out Sorting?
Yes. Pre-order products keep selling, so Sold-out Sorting leaves them in place. You can also set its keep-in-place tag to the app’s product tag (“pre-order”).
Before uninstalling
Open Settings and click “Turn off and restore”. It puts back “Stop selling when out of stock” on the variants the app changed. After an uninstall the app can’t change anything any more.
What happens if I go back to Free?
Your first campaign keeps taking pre-orders, with full payment for new orders. The others are paused, not deleted. Orders already placed keep their terms.
